Piazza Affari: banks fail, Tod's collapses. Waiting for Yellen's speech

After slipping negative, Piazza Affari broadens the declines at the end of the morning and loses 0,69%. Still sales on banks while the spread travels at 238 basis points. The Asian stock exchanges also did well following Yellen's push. Tokyo ended trading up 2,1% thanks to higher than expected growth in GDP, +0,5% between July and September.

Growth data has also been released in Europe. In the Eurozone, third quarter GDP rose by 0,1% and in the EU by 0,2%. As for the Germany, on which the European Commission has just lit a beacon due to the excessive surplus, the GDP grew by 0,3% on the previous quarter, in line with expectations. The weaker growth compared to the second quarter (+0,7%) depends exclusively on domestic demand while foreign trade contributed negatively with imports growing more than exports.

In Italy, Istat communicated a decrease of 0,1% on a quarterly basis and a decline of 1,9% on an annual basis. Those in charge of the survey signaled that the fall in GDP is slowing down for the fourth consecutive quarter on a cyclical basis and also on a trend basis. The GDP acquired for 2013 is equal to -1,9%.

In Piazza Affari the worst on the Ftse Mib is Tod’s after the release of a disappointing quarterly report for analysts: the stock dropped by more than 7%. The banks are still down in the week in which many of the main institutions have released the accounts (today is the turn of MPS). Banco Popolare -4,4%, Unicredit -3,17%. At the bottom of the Ftse Mib A2A -3,58% and Autogril -2,81%.
