The US data in the afternoon do not dissolve the uncertainty of the markets. Milano widens the decrease and reaches -1,2%. The spread it fell back to 280 basis points. Madrid -1,04%. Fractional declines instead for the other European markets which in the final session manage to cancel part of the losses: London -0,45%, Frankfurt -0,39%, Paris -0,62%.

The optimism triggered by the statements of the New York Fed governor on the possibility that the Fed will go ahead with the purchase plan and the good data arriving from Japan has in fact left room for prudence awaiting the US macro data in the afternoon. Which turned out to be mixed: the Chicago purchasing managers' index in June dropped to 52,8 points from 58,7 in the previous month, below the expectations of analysts, who were betting on 55. On the contrary, it dropped but did better than expected , the University of Michigan's US consumer confidence index, which fell to 84,1 in June from 84,5 in May as analysts expected 83.

Wall Street which, after a declining opening, moves weakly around parity with the Dow Jones retracing below 15.000. The euro-dollar exchange rate fell by 0,25% to 1,30 while WTI oil traded at 97,52 dollars a barrel, up 0,48%. Gold slightly recovered to 1.213 dollars an ounce (+0,14%).

Tumble of Blackberry which drops 27% after accounts below analysts' expectations: the group closed the first quarter with a surprise net loss of 67 million dollars, which means a loss of 13 cents per share against analysts' expectations for a profit of 6 cents per share.

Business Square is dragged down by the bankers penalized by the EU agreement on mechanisms for bank failures which provide that the bill will first be paid by shareholders, then by less insured bondholders and finally by deposits, except for those under one hundred thousand euros which are guaranteed by a European directive.
