The October index compiled by the University of Michigan rose to 86,4 points, the highest since July 2007 and above expectations. Financials still in the spotlight: Morgan Stanley in the spotlight thanks to soaring second-quarter profits 87% to 1,7 billion thanks to trading. Also purchases on General Electric which increased its third quarter profit by 10% to $3,5 billion. Both results beat analysts' expectations. Google, on the other hand, disappointed expectations: between June and September, profits amounted to 2,8 billion dollars, -5% on the year. Excluding exceptional items, earnings per share were $6,35, up from $5,63 a year prior but below the consensus of $6,53.

In the US, the issue of inequality enters the Fed's agenda: President Janet Yellen said she was very concerned about the growth of economic inequality in the United States. The markets are helped by oil with the WTI returning towards 84 dollars a barrel. The euro-dollar exchange rate returned above 1,28 and then closed down at 1,2752 -0,44%. Gold drops 0,56% to 1.234 dollars a barrelAt Piazza Affari the best stock is Autogrill which jumps by 7,95%. Thanks to the lowering of the spread, the banks raise their heads: among the best there are Bper +7,28%, Banco Popolare +7,22%, Bpm +6,78%.

At the bottom of the Ftse Mib Tenaris falls by 1,58% after the Investor Day in which it confirmed fears on the negative impacts deriving from the retreating price of crude oil. Utilities in general benefit from the incentives for the consolidation of the Stability Law. CNH loses 1,19%. London takes the field on Juventus: the Lindsell Train company increases its shareholding to 5,02%. The Treasury has set the minimum guaranteed yield of the Btp Italia at 1,15%, the minimum rate recorded by this type of issue.
