Tomorrow the first ETF on the 60 Italian mid-cap companies will land on the Milan Stock Exchange: the Lyxor UCITS ETF FTSE Italia Mid Cap. 

10 years after the first ETF on the Ftse Mib (i.e. one of the 40 most capitalized stocks), Lyxor is listing an ETF on the Ftse Italia Mid Cap, which will have a much more limited exposure to banks and will be more linked to the real economy and the Made in Italy. 

The two instruments are complementary in sectoral terms: in the Ftse Mib the banking (28,71%), Oil & Gas (16,88%) and utilities (16,33%) sectors prevail, in the Ftse Italia Mid Cap industrial goods and services (16,11%), banks (11,52%) and Health Care (11,05%). 

In terms of performance, in the last five years the Ftse Italia Mid Cap index has recorded higher performances than the Ftse Mib, against a more contained volatility: in one year the former gained 49,1%, the latter 29,9. 12,6%, with a volatility of 19 and XNUMX% respectively. 

In three years, the basket of mid-caps instead recorded +18,3%, that of the big 40 -2,8% (volatility at 21,7 and 26,8%); in five years the gain was 37,9 and 13,6, with a volatility of 18 and 22,9%.
