Covid vaccine plan to start in January, there is an agreement

The anti-Covid vaccine plan for Italy will start in early January. There is an agreement between the majority parties, but above all between the government and the Regions: the State-Regions conference has in fact given the green light to Commissioner Domenico Arcuri to start the vaccination campaign. The acceleration on the vaccine plan for Italy came with the announcement of the European Medicines Agency - the EMA - which brought forward to December 21 its decisions on the approval of Pfizer BionTech's anti-Covid vaccine.

Today, December 16, Commissioner Arcuri will send the regions a sort of "instruction booklet" for the vaccine and all the indications for the administration procedure within the week.

90% of the requests for doses made by the Regions will be delivered and this is because it has been estimated that 100% of the expected health personnel will not be vaccinated.

“Compared to the assessments we had made, we will be ready to leave a few days in advance” with the administration of the first doses of the vaccine. According to reports from Ansa, Health Minister Roberto Speranza confirmed this during the meeting with the Regions, thus emphasizing the importance of "being ready with the regional plans".

The need to speed up the times with respect to the initial hypotheses, which they foresaw the start of vaccination campaigns in Europe from mid-January, was imposed by the escalation of infections and the departure of vaccinations in England.

The Italian vaccination plan will initially concern 1,8 million Italians, starting from the health personnel of hospitals and from the staff and guests of residences for the elderly.
