Piaggio: quadrupling the sale of two-wheelers in India

The Italian motorcycle manufacturer intends to quadruple its sales over the next 10 years, replicating the success of light commercial vehicles. Vespa is the brand chosen by the company. Since the second half of 2012, when Vespa distribution began in India, models sold have reached 52.000 units.

An ambitious goal for Piaggio which aims to quadruple production and sales on the two-wheeler market in India over the next ten years.
To achieve this, the Pisan company will rely on the Vespa brand and in this regard the following models are arriving in the Asian country: 946, Vespa S, Vespa GTS 300 and Vespa LXV.

This was stated by the president of the company Roberto Colaninno, in a note announcing the presentation in Bombay of the new Vespa VX.
“We aim to achieve the same progress that has made us a top player on the Indian market for light commercial vehicles, with over 1,6 million vehicles produced and sold in the last ten years,” the president communicates.

In 2003 Piaggio had sold 50.000 three-wheelers, since 2010 it has steadily exceeded 200.000 units produced and marketed per year.
Since the second half of 2012 however, when Vespa sales began in India, the models sold have reached 52.000 units.
