Piaggio: Moto Guzzi aims at the luxury segment

Moto Guzzi aims at the luxury range. The motorcycle manufacturer from Lecco, which belongs to Piaggio, will present the new Guzzi California 1400 model tomorrow at the Milan Show, with which the company aims to enter the more luxurious segment.

In the last two years, in sharp contrast with a sector in sharp decline, Moto Guzzi recorded strongly growing results. In fact, in 2011 the company registered 5.800 motorcycles (+30% compared to 2010), against a decline in the European market of 7,3%. Results that improve if we consider the current year, in which the Paiggio subsidiary, for the entire third quarter, has already registered 5.400 motor vehicles (+13,7% compared to the same period of 2011), despite the European sales in the sector fell by 12,6%.

The parent company certainly benefited from this, which, thanks to Moto Guzzi, contained the damage of the European crisis, closing the first nine months of the year with a slight decrease compared to 2011, recording revenues of 1,1 billion euros (against 1,2. 44,4 billion) and profits of 47,1 million (against 42). On the other hand, XNUMX million have been allocated by the parent company to new investments by Moto Guzzi, which has thus been able to renew the range and reconquer the American and northern European markets.

In the morning, the Piaggio stock lost 0,48% on the Stock Exchange, at 1,873 euros per share.
