Piaggio Aerospace towards 700 million orders, goodbye Cigs

Piaggio Aerospace workers on extraordinary layoffs will be reabsorbed at the rate of around 100 units per month, until the entire workforce returns. The operation will begin when the institutional contracts relating to the acquisition of 9 new aircraft by the Ministry of Defense and the retrofit of 19 currently operational aircraft have been signed. This was confirmed by the extraordinary commissioner of the company, Vincenzo Nicastro, during Wednesday's meeting at the Industrial Union of Savona.

"As early as next September, the return of at least 30 workers for preparatory activities for the execution of the contracts has been planned", reads a note from Piaggio Aerospace.

As for the new engine maintenance contracts with the Italian Air Force, Nicastro confirmed to the union organizations that the contracts are about to be signed.

Lastly, the Commissioner recalled the importance of the orders in both the civil and military fields confirmed by the Ministry of Defense to the company and the trade union organizations at the table held on 20 June at the MISE. The total value amounts to approximately 700 million euros, the highest ever recorded by Piaggio Aerospace.
