Offer a point of reference for the whole country in continuous training and technology transfer. It is the goal of Philip Morris Institute for Manufacturing Competences (Imc), the new center of Philip Morris for the 'high formation and the development of skills for the professions of the future in the manufacturing world, inaugurated today 17 June in the Bologna office of Crepellano.

A hub for knowledge aimed not only at the people who work in all Philip Morris international affiliates and within its supply chain (over 700 entities involved), but also at the entire economic, entrepreneurial, education and training, local and national.

“The Philip Morris Imc – reads a note – represents a further, important step in the construction of Philip Morris's integrated supply chain of excellence in Italy, and confirms the company's commitment to the development, training and professionalization of people investing in young people, who represent 30% of Philip Morris employees in Italy, almost double the national average”.

What the Philip Morris Institute for Manufacturing offers

Upskilling program aimed at the operators of the Philip Morris supply chain, which in Italy has over 38 thousand people; scholarships the attendance of advanced training courses in Industry 4.0; research grants for researchers and doctoral students developed in partnership with important Italian universities and with centers of expertise; upgrade paths for the continuous training of Its teachers. It is only part of the rich menu of the first year of operation of the Philip Morris center.

There is also a "call for innovation" aimed at the start-up ecosystem at a national level, to allow the development of innovative projects in the field of industry 4.0, sustainability, energy efficiency and support for female entrepreneurship.

Furthermore, the center is built according to the most advanced standards environmental sustainability, with the aim of responding to the requirements identified for the LEED certification of the Green Building Council Italy and the WELL Gold level certification, the Philip Morris IMC is totally autonomous from an energy point of view, and will be equipped with a photovoltaic park for the production of electric energy.

Different institutional and academic realities are involved

The institutional and academic realities involved in the creation of the Philip Morris Imc: the Emilia-Romagna region, among the coordinators of the project, the University of Bologna, the Polytechnics of Bari and Turin, the latter through the Competence Center Cim 4.0, the center of competence Bi-Rex, Its Cuccovillo of Bari. And again, other subjects of excellence in the field of training: Its Maker Foundation, the territorial reference centers for technological innovation Almacube and Art-Er, the incubator of new business ideas, Co-Start Villa Garagnani, as well as the collaboration of Confindustria Emilia Area Centro.
