The partnership between Philip Morris International and the Ferrari team continues: the two partners have extended the collaboration until 2021. This was announced in two separate notes by the Italian Formula 1 team and the US tobacco multinational, which explains: “The collaboration has lasted over 40 years and from today will be solely aimed at advancing the cause of a smoke-free world, in which all those who would otherwise continue to smoke switch from the most dangerous form of nicotine consumption – the cigarette – to potentially less harmful smokeless alternatives”.

For some years now, Philip Morris has focused heavily on products without tobacco combustion and has invested 4,5 billion in alternatives to cigarettes, such as Iqos, a hybrid product which is not an electronic cigarette but which heats and does not burn tobacco, allowing preserve its flavor while reducing its harmful effects on health. Iqos and other products are packaged in Italy, in Crespellano, in the Bologna area, not far from Maranello, the Ferrari headquarters.

“We want to give the more than 1 billion smokers around the world the opportunity to make better and more informed choices. And leverage all available resources, including our automotive-related businesses, to raise awareness of this revolutionary change for the benefit of smokers, public health and society,” he said André Calantzopoulos, the managing director of Philip Morris International.
