Oil utility company Baker Hughes released its weekly update on the number of active rigs on Friday evening. These are on the rise in North America (+21). The number of rigs in the USA is stable at 744 units (-1). Slight increase in oil wells (+2), while gas wells decreased by two (miscellaneous ones -1). On the more operational front, the greatest increase came from vertical drilling, which increased by 1 unit (-2 horizontal rigs). Canada gains 22 new rigs, Gulf of Mexico stable. On a monthly basis, North America reports an increase of 35 wells in the US and 15 in Canada. South America decreased slightly (-6), while Europe dropped by 5 and Africa was stable. Source: Bloomberg
