Oil: Nate scares, Wti at lows

The drop below $50 a barrel was triggered by fears of Tropical Storm Nate's impact on the US Gulf of Mexico after the heavy destruction and damage caused in Central America.

The price of a barrel of oil falls to its lowest level in almost a month as regards West Texas Intermediate, at 49,4 dollars a barrel (-2,8%), and Brent also slips to the levels of three weeks ago at 55,5, 2,6 dollars per barrel (-XNUMX%). According to operators, the movement - following yesterday's jump which was supported by the visit of the king of Saudi Arabia to Russia seen as a sign of strengthening relations between the two countries on the issue of production cuts - was triggered by fears of the impact of tropical storm Nate on the Gulf of Mexico in the United States after the heavy destruction and damage caused in Central America: as happened at the end of the summer for Harvey, operators fear the closure of the refinery plants with consequences on their consumption.
