Oil and the US shut down Piazza Affari

The disappointing American data on employment and the new fall in oil prices are cooling the stock markets – Piazza Affari closes slightly lower and returns below 21 basis points – Eni and Enel in particular lose money, but also Bper, Yoox and Moncler – Prysmian, on the other hand, shines , Recordati, Ferragamo, Atlantia and Mediaset.

The news, released in the early afternoon, slows down the run of European stock markets and weakens the dollar , losing share against the euro and the yen. At the moment the exchange rate between the single currency and the greenback is 1,126 (+0,49%). The price of oil falls after Donald Trump's decision to call America out of the Paris agreements. "This could lead to a 'free-for-all' on US drilling and we could also see other signatories having second thoughts about their commitments," Oanda analyst Jeffrey Halley told Reuters. Brent -1,34%, 49,95 dollars a barrel. Gold goes up: +0,78%, 1275,81 dollars an ounce. 

Italian bonds remain under pressure, on a day with thin volumes due to the holidays. The ten-year yield is at 2,26%, while the spread with the Bund is at 198.90 points (+3,06%). The higher-than-expected increase in GDP in the first quarter is good news, as observed by the deputy general manager of Bank of Italy Salvatore Rossi, but it is not "a fantastic growth" just "a little better than it seemed".
