The great fear therefore seems to have passed. After the sudden collapse of the containment dam on the Polcevera, it was feared that a new wave of oil could reach the sea, but this did not happen. After a day of intense work, the barriers placed at the mouth of the stream stopped the crude oil flowing downstream from the heights of Fegino where seven days ago an Iplom pipe broke during the pumping phase from a ship to the Busalla refinery.
This was also confirmed by the Port Authority of the Ligurian capital: "Local state of emergency, but no new pollution". Of course, the strong concern about the "media wave" by the owners of bathing establishments remains a few hours before the first bridge of the season.
