Double trust for Draghi, but 30 Five Stars vote No

With the vote of confidence granted by a large majority by the Senate and the Chamber, the Draghi government is fully empowered, but the landslide among the Five Stars is widening: 30 parliamentarians voted No and will be expelled - Di Battista promotes a counter-Movement

Double trust for Draghi, but 30 Five Stars vote No

The Chamber gives the green light to the Draghi government with 535 votes in favour, 56 against and 5 abstentions. Another Bulgarian trust that - after that of Wednesday evening in the Senate - allows the new executive to begin work in full powers. Among the major parties, the only one to place itself in opposition is confirmed as the Brothers of Italy. The most important news, however, comes from Movement 5 Starswhere the inner frond widens.

Of the 56 votes against registered in Montecitorio, 16 came from Grillini deputies, who - like the 15 against in the Senate - will be expelled from the Movement for failing to comply with the voting instructions received from subscribers through the Rousseau platform. The same fate will befall the four pentastellati who abstained and 10 of the 14 absent (the other four were on mission).

In all, among those against, abstained and unjustified absentees, there are 51 Grillini dissidents, of which 30 in the Chamber and 21 in the Senate. It does not seem, for the moment, that there is unity of purpose between them. Nicola Morra, for example, requested a meeting with Beppe Grillo to be pardoned. Barbara Lezzi instead he said he wanted to run for leadership of the new collegial body approved a few days ago on Rousseau, arguing – like Matteo Mantero – that the outgoing political leader, Vito Crimi, no longer has the authority to announce expulsions. They are not excluded court cases o appeals to the House and the Senate to remain in the group despite the dissenting vote.

Nothing has been decided yet, but the extreme hypothesis is already looming on the horizon: the exiled grillini have the numbers to constitute autonomous groups in the two houses of Parliament. To do this they would need to a symbol, and they could borrow one mothballed several years ago: that of Italia dei Valori.

Meanwhile Alessandro Di Battista, as extra-parliamentary leader of the Grillini rebels, sends a signal on Instagram: “There are things to say. Political choices to defend. Questions to answer and a healthy and robust opposition to build. Tomorrow he will say more during a social media interview. And the suspicion is that a sort of Counter-Movement.
