It has ended the table on pensions between the government and the trade unions, held today, August 30, at the Ministry of Labour. Many topics on the plate of the summit which officially launches the so-called "Phase Two" of the discussion that began months ago: young people, flexibility in leaving, recognition of women's care work, supplementary pensions, the revaluation of pensions from 2019 and raising the retirement age in relation to life expectancy.
At the center of the meeting was the theme of young people. The Government aims to guarantee young people, fully subject to the contributory system, a lifesaver to cling to when they retire. The hypothesis is to introduce a minimum check of 600 – 620 euro (obtained by adding a portion of the social allowance to the contributory pension), at the same time giving the possibility of accessing the pension treatment at 63 years and 7 months. The intention also seems to be to reduce the coefficient for calculating the contribution from 1,5 times the social allowance to 1,2 times.
A solution that the trade unions seem to like: "We have registered the government's willingness to address issues related to the pension perspective for young people and supplementary pensions", underlined the general secretary of the CGIL, Susanna Camusso, at the end of the table on pensions.
However, it should be noted that at the moment there are no dates or decisions: “It's not a pressing issue – Leonardi explained – it should be discussed and addressed but it is not an urgent point on the agenda because it concerns young people who will retire in 20 years”. For his part, Poletti reiterated: "The issue is on the agenda, it is under discussion and we will continue to discuss it but the problem will not arise tomorrow morning".
Total disagreement on theadjustment of the retirement age to life expectancy. Precisely on this last point, a first clash seems to have taken place between the representatives of the Executive and those of the trade union associations: There has been "wide reticence by the government on the issue of life expectancy," Camusso highlighted. For us – he continued – this is a fundamental point because there cannot be a double penalizing mechanism on life expectancy, both in terms of age and returns”.
But the negotiations are only at the beginning: "We will have other meetings in September: on the 5th there will be a thematic table on work, on the 7th pensions and women and the coupon on the measures already issued (Ape sociale), then the following week on 13th September" , explained the Minister of Labour.
