Pensions: latest news on early, fourteenth and no tax area

Waiting for the meeting between the government and the unions, postponed from 21 to 27 September, today's news on pensions concern early workers, the fourteenth and the extension of the no tax area.

1) EARLY PENSIONS FOR EARLY WORKERS

Let's start with the early workers. The Government is looking for a way to guarantee this particular category the possibility of accessing early retirement. There are still many hypotheses on the table, but the latest rumors speak of a contribution bonus for those who started paying contributions before they turned 16.

Thanks to this novelty, early workers could reach the requirements for early retirement (41 years and 10 months of contributions) one year earlier than other workers. The measure would cost about 600 million euros for the first year alone and would allow about 25-30 thousand workers to leave early a year.

2) FOURTEENTH MONTHS ALSO FOR PENSIONS BETWEEN 750 AND 1.000 EUROS

The 2017 Stability Law will also contain 700 million euros for the fourteenth salary of pensioners. In particular, 30% of the allocation will be used to increase the extra allowance that is already paid every July to 2,1 million people with pensions of up to 750 euros (equal to 1,5 times the INPS minimum), while the another 70% will finance the extension of the extra month's salary to around 1,2 million former workers who collect pensions between 750 and 1.000 euros (twice the INPS minimum).

3) PENSIONS AND NO TAX AREA

As for the no-tax area – which, we recall, corresponds to an income value below which one is exempt from taxation – that of pensioners will be aligned or in any case very close to that currently envisaged for employees (8.100 euros). 260 million will be allocated for this purpose.
