Pensions, the reform takes off: here are the novelties of 2013, starting from the retirement age

From January XNUMX, the rules established by the Fornero reform begin to unfold their effects: increase in the retirement age, contributory system, new requirements for early retirement, goodbye to "windows" and seniority checks, blocked revaluations.

Pensions, the reform takes off: here are the novelties of 2013, starting from the retirement age

The pension reform by Elsa Fornero becomes operational and there are many novelties to be registered. First, starting January XNUMXst the retirement age has risen: to retire from work, men must be at least 66 years and three months old, women 62 years and three months old (threshold that will be progressively equalized to that of men by 2018). In both cases at least 20 years of contributions are required. Italians also have to say goodbye to old age pensions and the so-called "windows". The early withdrawal it is possible only with a seniority of 42 years and five months for men and 41 years and five months for women.

“Retirement age is linked to life expectancy – said the president of INPS, Antonio Mastrapasqua, on the microphones of “Start” on RadioRai1 -. Luckily we live longer, so we will work more and receive a pension for longer".

Another fundamental novelty concerns the method by which the amount of social security checks will be calculated, which passes from remunerative to pure contributory. This will lead to a reduction in the value of pensions, which will no longer be calculated starting from the last contribution bracket reached, but on the basis of the contributions paid over the entire professional life.

Then reevaluate the importance of supplementary pensions. “We need the 'second leg' of the supplementary pension, which is widespread in Europe but which in Italy is still struggling to take off – continued Mastrapasqua -. On this front INPS, insurance companies and banks must work ”.

The president of INPS recalled that in Europe “the average of those with a supplementary pension is around 91%, while in Italy it is 23%. A differential that is too wide, which we need to reflect on to understand what mistakes have been made ”.

For the adjustment of pensions to the cost of livingfinally, increases of 3% are triggered (the minimum pension thus goes from 481 to 495,43 euros), from which, however, checks exceeding three times the minimum threshold are excluded. Furthermore, for this year the block on the annual revaluation introduced with the Fornero reform remains in force.
