Pensions, Poletti: flexibility and increase in minimums

The government wants raise minimum pensions. This was announced by the Minister of Labour, Giuliano Poletti, on the sidelines of the Ambrosetti workshop in Cernobbio. "We have to find the methods and forms," said the minister, confirming that the project is part of the government's intentions.

Certainly the executivehas no intention of making a balance sheet – continued Poletti in response to a measure requested by the CGIL – nor to raise taxes. Our intention is to reduce them and we have begun to do so, abolishing the tax on the house and removing the cost of stable labor from Irap. We have already implemented tax reduction processes in past years, we will continue on this path”.

On the labor side, however, the minister explained that the government aims to link a part of workers' wages to productivity, without however weakening the protections guaranteed by national agreements: “We have always thought that the national employment contract has its raison d'être and a purpose, that of guaranteeing essential standards for the protection of workers, therefore we do not want to weaken or cancel them. Rather, we intend to support productivity, which is one of the great problems of our country and therefore see how to connect a part of the salary to the elements of productivity, or responsible participation of workers in the company, to the result”.

as to fight against poverty, “we don't want to continue distributing subsidies all our lives – underlined Poletti -. We would like people to find a condition of dignity, which is that of having a job and being able to be useful to themselves and to others. We are therefore building this universal tool to fight poverty: we have invested 750 million euros in SIA and 500 million in infrastructure and active policies, we are at one billion on the next budgets. I hope with the Stability law to be able to further increase these resources to get as close as possible to dealing with the audience of people who are in need".

In particular, explained the minister, "if this year we have invested 750 million, reaching one million people and 500 minors, to complete the audience we would need 1,5 billion. My goal is to find, with the stability law, among what is already in the budget today, the possibility of recovering some resources from other sources. If we reach 1,5 billion we will have achieved an excellent result, because in one year we will have gone from zero to 750 million, to then double again to 1,5 billion".
