Pensions, Padoan: unsustainable full refund. From 2016 more money to the low-end

This was assured by Economy Minister Pier Carlo Padoan, yesterday evening in a hearing before the Budget and Labor commissions of the Chamber and Senate, on the eve of sending the text of the decree law on pensions to the Quirinale, expected early today before returning to the Chambers.

Pensions, Padoan: unsustainable full refund. From 2016 more money to the low-end

From 2016 the pensions, affected by the Monti-Fornero block rejected by the Consulta, will have a structural increase, "equal to 50% of what was established for the months of the two-year period 2012-2013". He assured it Economy Minister Pier Carlo Padoan, yesterday evening in a hearing before the Budget and Labor commissions of the Chamber and Senate, on the eve of sending the text of the decree law on pensions to the Quirinale, expected early today before returning to the Chambers.

Padoan also explained that the decree recognizes for 2012-13 "the revaluation of 40%" for checks between 3 and 4 times the minimum, 20% for those between 4 and 5 times the minimum and 10% for those between 5 and 6 times the minimum. For 2014-15, "20%" of the amount envisaged for the previous two-year period will be reimbursed. The minister insisted on the fact that this was the only sustainable path: "The impact of the Consultation's sentence on pensions would have resulted in an additional expenditure of about 2015 billion in 17,6, net of tax effects: an increase not sustainable, the deficit/GDP would have risen from the expected 2,5% to 3,6%”.

In addition to budget constraints, the choice of the pension decree is also strategic, and linked to generational solidarity: "The reimbursement limits introduced with the pension decree respond to both an intra-generational and intergenerational solidarity approach, in the presence of budget constraints stringent", Padoan underlined again, explaining that "it would have a negative impact on the tax burden and on the provision of public services and transfers, including those to the younger generations".

On the choice of income brackets as a pension to be protected, Padoan was keen to reiterate that the pension decree favors the "less well-off" of the population and "once again the government has paid more attention to those with lower incomes".
