PENSIONS – Refunds on the indexing block for 4 million pensioners arrive today

More than 4 million retirees will receive the today reimbursement of non-indexation of their social security treatment in the two-year period 2012-13 declared illegitimate by the Constitutional Court. The reimbursement will be partial and not for everyone and will particularly concern retirees who have a social security check between 1.500 euros and 3.000 euros per month. Whoever has the lowest check will receive a higher refund and vice versa.

The refund amount – which will be automatic and does not require any request, except for the heirs of deceased pensioners – it will go from 295 euros net (for those with pensions between 5 and 6 times the INPS minimum, i.e. equal to 2.700 euros) at 750 euros net (for those who have a check that is close to 1.500 euros per month). No one will be refunded more than 40%.

With these repayments, the Renzi government intended to immediately honor the decision of the Constitutional Court but modulating it so as not to destroy the state budget and not to favor the so-called golden pensions, on which the controversial ruling of the Consulta said nothing.

Repayments for arrears up to 2014 will be subject to separate taxation while those for 2015 will be subject to ordinary taxation.
