Pensions: 61% do not reach 750 euros? Pay attention to the data

61,3% of Italian pensions do not reach 750 euros per month. If you only consider women, the data arrives at 74,5%: how to say three out of four. The data was released today, Thursday 28 March, by theINPS and they result stable compared to last year's survey (in 2018 the percentages were 62,2 and 75% respectively).

From the latest statistics it emerges that on almost 18 million pensions paid every year by INPS, in addition 12,6 million are less than 1.000 euros per month. Also in this case the figure is substantially stable: last year they were 12,8 million.

In any case, these numbers work only partially as indicators of poverty, since in Italy many retirees are recipients of multiple benefits social security or can still count on other income.

Pensions under 750 euros total almost 11 million, but less than half (43,9%) benefit from benefits linked to low income requirements, such as minimum integration, social bonuses, pensions and social allowances and civil disability pensions.

How do you explain Michaela Camilleri, of the study center of Itinerari Previdenziali, “when analyzing the distributions by income class reference should be made to pensioners, i.e. to physical subjects who receive one or more services, e not to individual pensions. If we calculate the average amount of the pension on the total number of services, we obtain 12.478 euros gross per year (960 euros gross per month in 13 months), but, referring to the total number of pensioners, the average per capita pension income is equal to 17.887 euros gross per year (14.807 euros net per year), therefore 1.376 euros gross per month (1.139 euros net per month). And this second datum would be the most correct to consider, even if the most widespread is often the first, which improperly divides the amount of pensions (286,938 billion euros) by the number of services, and not by the number of pensioners".

As far as the average amounts, the INPS lets it be known that the old-age pension is 1.196,98 euros. Men collect more than women, almost double (+90,5%) in the north for the old age category. On the other hand, the 495 disabled civilians registered with INPS receive an average pension of 2.743.988 euros per month.

Finally, the average age of retirees is 74 years, with a gender difference of 4,6 years: 71,4 years for men and 76 years for women. But INPS specifies that 26,8% of old-age pensions are paid to people under the age of 70, a percentage that rises to 29,1% if only men are taken into account. This is justified by the large number of old-age pensions paid out in past years.
