Pensions, Referendum rejected on the Fornero law

The Constitutional Court rejected the League's request to hold a referendum to repeal the Fornero pension reform.

The Consulta, “in today's council chambers – reads the note – declared inadmissible the request for a referendum relating to article 24 (Provisions on pension benefits) of the decree law of 6 December 2011, n. 201 (Urgent provisions for the growth, equity and consolidation of public finances), converted into law, with amendments, by article 1, paragraph 1, of law 22 December 2011, n. 214, in the text resulting from subsequent amendments and additions".

“This Italy disgusts me and I will fight to overturn it – commented Matteo Salvini, secretary of the League. To the microphones of Radio Padania -. Today democracy dies. It's a shame. Vaffa…all of Italy can hear it. It does not end here. It is a disgrace against millions of Italians who don't make it to the end of the month. Other than the electoral law… It is incredibly vulgar to spend time discussing the electoral law while people are dying of hunger”.
