Old-age pension, age: from 2020 to 2022 serve 67 years

From 2020 age to access old age pension salt to 67 years for everyone: men and women, public and private sector workers. What is new is that the new retirement age requirement will certainly remain in place until the end of 2022. This was established by a ministerial decree on the basis of the latest Istat calculations regarding life expectancy.

In reality, the question is a little more tangled: the new age limit will be valid for the two-year period 2021-2022, effectively overlapping the 2020 requirement because the Statistical Institute has found that in 2017-2018 the change in the hope of life compared to the past was less than a month.

This is the first application of one of the innovations introduced by the Fornero reform of 2011, which provided for updates of the retirement age in relation to life expectancy every two years instead of every three years.

In short (Italian only): the retirement age for obtaining old-age benefits in 2020, 2021 and 2022 will remain stable for all workers at 67 years of age. The same age limit will also be valid for the social pension in the same period.

In the biennium 2023-2024 the requirement could increase by three months, but it's too early to tell.

However, we would like to remind you that to access the old-age pension, the registry requirement alone is not sufficient: it is also necessary to have paid at least 20 years of contributions.

Not only that: for workers hired for the first time from 1996 onwards (whose pension is calculated entirely with the contributory system) it is necessary that the pension allowance is equal to at least 1,5 times the social allowance revalued on the basis of the GDP trend.
