Invalidity pension: 6% suspended, 10% withdrawn

Civil invalidity pensions: last year it was revoked, because over 10% of the checks were found to be lacking in health requirements. Another 6% of pensions have been suspended because those concerned have been untraceable. And if Sardinia and Campania share the top positions, Umbria and Molise stand out by placing themselves in third and fourth place in terms of undue disability pensions.

The picture of the false invalids was provided by the Undersecretary for Labor, Nello Musumeci, who answered a question from the League that raised the problem of false certifications and the consequent pension benefits, with obvious repercussions on the state budget. In providing the details of the situation, the undersecretary makes use of the results of the extraordinary verification program that INPS has put in place in addition to the ordinary verification activity: 200 thousand for the current year, the same for next year , which are added to the 100 extraordinary checks last year. In 2010, 115 subjects were audited, but over 908 of these were found to be untraceable.

And therefore there has already been a skimming of more than 6%. Furthermore, 9.801 services were revoked due to lack of health requirements against the 95.875 reports defined by the territorial medical-legal commissions: 10,2%. Sardinia is the region where the medical commissions have revoked the highest percentage of invalidity pensions compared to those defined and controlled: 1.109, equal to 21,8% of the total. Campania follows, where 3.325 services were revoked, equal to 21%. And then there is Umbria, with 20,4% of revocations, and then Molise, with 19,1%. Among the northern regions, Friuli stands out, with 7,5% of pensions revoked.

Also last year, a total of 462.038 civil disability benefits were paid. Lombardy takes the lion's share, with 56.133 pensions granted, followed by Sicily (52.618), Campania (over 49), Lazio (over 46) and Puglia (just under 40).
