Pecorino dop for the poor: 14 million euros from the ministry

The charitable organizations, which deal with the free distribution of foodstuffs to people in need, will soon be able to proceed with the purchase of Pecorino Dop for the amount of 14 million euros to be allocated to their clients. This is thanks to a provision implemented following the signing of an interministerial decree by the Ministry of Agricultural, Food, Forestry and Tourism Policies, in concert with the Ministry of Labor and Social Policies within the scope of the activities of the National Fund set up for this purpose at the Mipaaft.

"This measure was introduced with the decree-law "agricultural emergencies" - declares the Minister of Agricultural, Food, Forestry and Tourism Policies, Sen. Gian Marco Centinaio - "Thanks to an assiduous commitment, we quickly concluded the necessary procedures to obtain the authorization of the European Commission, required by the same decree-law. Therefore, we were able to proceed to sign the decree and allocate the sum for the purchase and distribution of PDO cheeses by charitable organizations”.

The purchase of pecorino DOP will take place through tender procedures. It will be AGEA, the Agency for Agricultural Disbursements, which will take charge of issuing the announcement, to be divided into several lots, and of carrying out the subsequent procedures for the definitive allocation of funds.
