Pdl, pd and third pole towards a motion in support of the Monti government

The premier's first summit concluded positively with Alfano, Bersani and Casini, who agreed to support the action of the Executive in Europe. Some signs of thaw in the league after Bossi and Maroni met.

Pdl, pd and third pole towards a motion in support of the Monti government

There was no group photo, but the first official meeting between Mario Monti and the leaders of the parties who support his government went quite well. Angelino Alfano for the PDL, Pierluigi Bersani for the Pd and Pierferdinando Casini for the third pole agreed in full support for the premier and to the Executive in its action in Europe in support of our country's exit from the crisis. Support that will take the form of a parliamentary motion, also open to the forces that have not trusted the government (but Di Pietro has already declared his unavailability) which will be finalized by the leaders of the political forces before the next European summit at the end of month.

Does this mean that there is a real political majority in support of the government? Alfano and Bersani throw a lot of water on the fire. The first explains that for the PDL what matters at the moment is to help the country. The second commits the Democratic Party to asserting the positions of our government also with the other parties of the European left, starting with the Spd, hoping that the parties that recognize themselves in the EPP will do the same. Casini goes further who believes that beyond words and formulas the political majority is in deeds. Meanwhile, no one excludes that the three political forces may meet, as the UDC leader predicts, in the near future, around a table to try to carry out electoral reform and other institutional reforms.

Finally, the situation within the League: Bossi and Maroni met yesterday in via Bellerio in Milan. They have spoken, and that is already something, but to say that there is a definitive clarification would be really risky. Everything is expected to verify the behavior in the next few days, without forgetting that a demonstration by the League is scheduled for next Sunday in Milan against the Monti government. We'll see if there will also be a unitary rally of Bossi and Maroni.
