Higher wages, less insecurity, attention to school, more rights and environmental sustainability: these are the pillars of the electoral program of the Pd which was approved yesterday by the party leadership under the leadership of secretary Enrico Letta.
THE SOCIAL PROGRAM OF THE PD: MINIMUM WAGE, AN EXTRA MONTH IN THE PAYBOOK, STABLE CONTRACTS
The social part of the program takes the lion's share. The minimum salary is the starting point but the main novelty is represented by the objective of raising wages with an extra month's salary paycheck to be financed through the reduction of the tax wedge. But in addition to wages, the Democratic Party aims to reduce precariousness by making permanent contracts more advantageous than fixed-term ones and by contrasting undeclared work and undeclared work. Awarded goes instead smart working and all the measures that encourage youth and female work.
THE PROGRAM OF THE PD FOR SCHOOLS: INCREASES IN THE PAYROLL FOR TEACHERS AND FREE BUSES FOR STUDENTS
The school is another central chapter of the Pd program which plans to restore dignity and role to the teachers with salary increases that in 5 years allow their salaries to align with the European average and with continuous training and refresher courses. For the and students the programme, on the other hand, provides for free transportation and textbooks on free loan, but only for low- and middle-income families. Finally, an extraordinary school building plan to renovate existing institutions and build new ones.
THE PD PROGRAM FOR RIGHTS: FROM THE IUS SCHOLAE TO THE ZAN DDL
Alongside social rights, the Pd's program also provides for a strong expansion of civil rights that goes from the introduction of the jus scholae to give citizenship to the children of immigrants who have been studying in Italy for at least 5 years to egalitarian marriage and full equality of LGBTQI+ people through the approval of the Zan bill as well as the right to end of life and also the self-production of cannabis for personal and therapeutic use.
THE PD PROGRAM FOR THE ENVIRONMENT: MORE RENEWABLES TO REDUCE HOUSEHOLD BILLS
The environment is the third main pillar of the Pd program which focuses on the development of energy renewable to accelerate the ecological transition as a crucial factor of development and also to cut household bills. The ecological transition is not only seen from an environmental point of view but also from an economic, industrial and social point of view as an opportunity, in full respect of the environment, to transform the industrial system and create new jobs.
