Pd, comparison on Sky: Bonaccini a little plastered but reliable, vagueness triumphs in Schlein

The TV duel between the two candidates for secretary of the Democratic Party who will face each other in the primaries on Sunday is disappointing – More concreteness and no concessions to maximalism in Bonaccini, many slogans but a few too many amnesia in Schlein

Pd, comparison on Sky: Bonaccini a little plastered but reliable, vagueness triumphs in Schlein

The television confrontation between the two aspirants to secretariat of the Pd - Stephen Bonaccini and Elly Schlein that next Sunday they will face each other in the primary – aired last night on Sky it fell short of expectations. The format was not the right one: two parallel and somewhat dull interviews instead of a direct confrontation between the two candidates which would have better highlighted the differences. On the level of the ageneral attitude Schlein is better, looser and less formal, but on the level of contenti.e. of political perspectives better Bonaccini, who made all his experience and all his concreteness weigh.

Bonaccini: "I've shown that I know how to win and keep the Democratic Party united"

With Bonaccini, the defeatism and pessimism that has often characterized the Italian left, including the Democratic Party, finally go to the attic: “I've already shown that I can win and to keep the party united”. Indeed in Emilia Romagna it went like this: Bonaccini became Governor by routing the right and forming a broad coalition in which Schlein is his deputy in the Giunta. Even his way of imagining theopposition to the government is very clear: it will be clear ("The judgment on the first 100 days is very hard") but not childish and not amateurish ("A Melons I'm not saying he's incompetent after he beat us because I'd be bordering on the ridiculous).

In terms of content, yours prevailed in Bonaccini reformist inspiration and its concreteness, without concessions to maximalism and populism: no abjuration of Jobs Act, defense of Basic income but correcting it because it didn't create jobs, differentiated autonomy without splitting Italy in two and supporting theUkraine without ifs and buts.

Schlein wants change but forgets the tile lords who are with her

In reverse vagueness triumphed in Schlein: vagueness about alliances – but the propensity to embrace ai Five stars remains the number one option - and vagueness on the contents (from the basic income to be defended without ifs and buts to peace, which seems to overlook the fact that without a victory or at least a non-defeat for Ukraine on a military level, peace remains a chimera) .

Unlike Bonaccini, Schlein did not spare herself i ritual attacks on the Jobs Act by Renzi, forgetting the fact that that reform created a million jobs. “The left must be the left,” claimed Schleinma little has been seen under the slogans and the desire for rupture and change cannot erase the fact that the main supporters of the young candidate for the secretariat of the Democratic Party are the lords of the currents (from Franceschini a Zingaretti and betti) who have more than one responsibility for the recent defeats of the party and who dream of a mortal embrace with the Five Stars of Tale.
