Patuelli, Abi: "Pa. debts over 100 billion"

“My assessment is that we are already over 100 billion euros”. So the president of ABI, Antonio Patuelli, speaking of public debts towards companies and explaining that "in banking terms it is a very significant figure to then restore new finance to companies".

"Bank of Italy gave an evaluation of 31 billion as at 2010 December 70, then updated it at 31 December 2011 of around ninety billion: if we make a progression we are already over 100 billion", said Patuelli at the end of a meeting with the vice president of the EU Commission, Antonio Tajani. This money, explained Patuelli, represents "new liquidity owed by the institutions, which has as a consequence new finance from the banks". “A hundred billion are 5% of the Italian public debt consolidated over decades and are about one twentieth of the total amount of loans of the banks operating in Italy – added Patuelli – it is a very important driving force that can be restarted and the premise for restarting the virtuous circle".
