Passera: Startup Italy by the summer

By the summer, the Government will launch the Startup project. A series of rules and incentives are foreseen to encourage their birth in Italy. The lighthouse of the proposal is the USA, where 37% of new employment comes from new companies.

Passera: Startup Italy by the summer

The Minister of Economic Development, Corrado Passera, announced this afternoon at the conference "Doing business is no longer business: the hi-tech plan to make the world grow" promoted by the Italian Business & Investment Initiative and the Luiss University, the presentation of a government provision by the end of the summer, to encourage and facilitate the creation of startup companies. It will be called precisely “Startup Italia”.

The goal, said the minister, is to contribute to the development of the economy and employment. "If the social unease represented not only by 2,3 million unemployed, but by that vast area of unemployed and underemployed and overall reaching 6 million citizens, are the point of reference for the Government's economic and social policy action, startups are the flywheel to produce growth and employment”.

According to the minister, the areas on which the Government's commitment should be directed and of the Italian system to favor the development of startups are mainly two: the digital agenda and innovation.

In essence, the Government imagines a series of rules, rules, incentives and disincentives, aimed at creating a more favorable environment for startups, which, as Ambassador David H. Thorne recalled, represent 37% of new jobs in America.
Ministers Terzi (“we must promote the globalization of talents”) Freancesco Profumo, Giulio Terzi and Piero Gnudi, as well as the heads of Alitalia Enel Eni Generali Intesa Mediaset and Wind also contributed to the conference
