Easter, tightening on travel abroad: swab and quarantine

The Minister of Health signs an ordinance to also limit travel within the EU, which until now was free without justification, with the only obligation to present a negative swab at the airport

Easter, tightening on travel abroad: swab and quarantine

It was in fact a logical contradiction and the Minister of Health Roberto Speranza had to intervene (albeit belatedly and partially): taking a plane and going abroad will still paradoxically be easier than moving within Italy, but there will no longer be the incredible "free all" of the last few days. Until now, in fact, to travel within Europe (and a list of countries considered to be at low epidemiological risk in this list of the Ministry of Health) it was sufficient to present a negative swab at the airport carried out within 48 hours prior to departure, and announce one's return to Italy through a self-certification, with a quarantine obligation only in the event of transit from countries considered to be at high risk, with particular pay attention to the United Kingdom and Brazil for the variants, or to countries such as Austria that have effectively armored the borders, or in general from non-EU countries.

The ordinance signed by Speranza instead provides that from now on, with particular attention during the Easter holiday period, a swab is mandatory on departure, even for arrivals and returns from European Union countries, 5-day quarantine upon arrival and an additional swab at the end of the 5 days of isolation. A tightening that actually discourages the organization of trips for a few days for Easter, but which will not fail to spark controversy given that many Italians have already bought tickets or have even already left, perhaps to dribble the national red zone which is imposed by the 3 to 5 April, but which in fact already applies now in 12 Regions and will also be like this after the Easter holidays: until 30 April there will be no yellow zones and the movements between Regions they will only be permitted for the usual reasons of health, work or necessity. On 3-5 April there will be the possibility to meet at the home of relatives or friends, with the formula already used at Christmas (therefore a maximum of 2 guests + 2 others under 14), but in any case not outside the regional borders. And in some Regions it is even forbidden to reach second homes: in some cases even to the residents themselves.
