VAT numbers, Tax Day towards the maxi-postponement to April

The Government intends postpone the Tax Day scheduled for November 30 to April 30. The new shift will concern i 4,5 million VAT numbers called to pay Irpef, Ires, Irap advances and substitute taxes. The measure, anticipated yesterday evening by the Ministry of the Economy, should flow this week into a new decree - the Ristori 4 - which will be mainly fiscal. The resources to be allocated for the postponement of taxes should amount to a total of 4,8 billion euros.

The main objective is to harmonize deadlines for VAT numbers, which are currently fragmented. Certain categories of taxpayers, in fact, the autumn Tax Day deadlines have already been postponed to April. These are three groups:

  1. the VAT numbers subject to the summary indicators of fiscal reliability (Isa, i.e. the tax report cards, the old sector studies) which suffered a drop in turnover and fees of at least 33% in the first six months of 2020;
  2. VAT numbers on a flat-rate basis (which are not required to fill out the ISAs), also in this case on condition that they have recorded a drop in turnover and fees of at least 33% in the first six months of 2020;
  3. the VAT numbers of the orange or red areas subject to the Isa or flat rates that fall within the Ateco codes indicated in Annexes 1 and 2 al Refreshment decree-bis (bars, restaurants, cinemas and more), regardless of the revenue trend.

With the new extension, therefore, the postponement to April (or the possibility of choosing the installment plan) will be extended to all VAT numbers under 50 million in revenues, beyond the area to which they belong, provided they have recorded a loss of turnover of 33 or 50% (the threshold is yet to be decided).

It's not over. The government will also postpone the postpone the contributions and personal income tax withholding payments on the pay slips of 16 December and the VAT of 27 December, always for companies and sectors in crisis.

Finally, it will also fire the postponement to 10 December of the date of submission of the 2020 electronic tax returns scheduled for November 30th.
