Parmalat, 11 players also under investigation

These are eleven players from Tanzi's great Parma, who together with the president and commercial director Barili would have contributed to the diversion of funds from Parmalat's coffers: Crippa, Thuram, Stoichkov, Dino Baggio, Chiesa, Brolin, Minotti, Apolloni, Asprilla , Veron and Crespo.

The players are also involved in the Parmalat process. According to the indictment, during Parma football's golden years, when he established himself at the top of Italian and European football (from 1992 to 2003), some players participated together with the president Callisto Tanzi and the commercial director Domenico Barili in the diversion of funds from the Parmalat coffers.

For 11 of them (just like a football team) the Prosecutor of Parma has formulated a heavy crime hypothesis: concurrence in fraudulent patrimonial bankruptcy for distraction. These are eleven players particularly loved by the fans and great protagonists on the pitch: Crippa, Thuram, Stoichkov, Dino Baggio, Chiesa, Brolin, Minotti, Apolloni, Asprilla, Veron and Crespo, which apparently would have received extra salary money stolen from the parent company, for a total of almost 10 million euros, through the stipulation of fictitious contracts and the issuing of false invoices.

The more involved it is the Argentine Juan Sebastian Veron, who according to the Prosecutor's Office would have received 5.647.724 dollars, followed by the Colombian Tino Asprilla with 4.425.000, Dino Baggio with 2.654.589 and Hernan Crespo with 2 million rounds.

The investigations, however, are not over yet it is possible that a new vein relating to illicit transactions will soon be opened, not referring only to football players but also to relationships with other companies in the sale of athletes.
