Parmalat: doubts about the 1,5 billion treasury, the government summons the French of Lactalis

Parmalat is back on the scene. On the sidelines of the trials and convictions that affected, above all, the former patron Calisto Tanzi, the remains of a large company still remain which, by now colonized by the French of Lactalis who own 83,33%, try to somehow relaunch.

And it is for this reason, to verify the methods of its relaunch, in the face of some shadows spread in the press, that the Italian government, by the hand of the Minister of Economic Development Corrado Passera, contacted the leaders of the Lactalis group, at the request of the unions, to meet in order to better understand Parmalat's development plan, with particular reference to the use of liquidity.

The hot topic around which the whole story unfolds is, in fact, the use, at the moment unclear, that Lactalis intends to make of the treasure bequeathed by Commissioner Enrico Bondi and which, according to the latest updates, now amounts to 1.517,6 million euros.

THEMrs Carmen Motta, who also raised a parliamentary question on the matter, made his fears explicit by stating that “according to press rumors, the treasure will be used by Lactalis outside our country, for acquisitions in France and for the settlement of debts contracted”.

This use of liquidity, should the rumors prove to be founded, would be contrary to Parmalat's articles of association, which by law cannot be changed, and that provides guarantees for a lasting relaunch of business activities, including the obligation to spend the treasury solely and exclusively on operations aimed at the industrial development of the company.
