(Ansa, 10:17) Gunshots at Orly airport in Paris. A man allegedly attempted to take possession of a soldier's weapon, who reacted by shooting him. The complete evacuation of the airport is underway. According to what has been learned, a man launched himself this morning shortly before 9:15 against a border police agent of the "Sentinelle" anti-terrorism operation, on patrol at the South Terminal of Orly with other colleagues in camouflage and with the shoulder weapon, as required by the rules of the state of emergency. The assailant allegedly snatched the weapon from the soldier but was immediately shot down before being able to use it. The man - some witnesses say - was killed as he was walking with the stolen weapon towards a McDonald's in the South Terminal.
A bomb squad and police operation is still underway to rule out the presence of any bombs or other security threats. In addition to the South terminal, the other terminal, Orly West, from which several low-cost flights direct to Italy depart, has also been evacuated. On Twitter, the French police invites everyone not to approach the security perimeter with which the entire airport area has been cordoned off.
