The US energy giant is completing a mega-expansion in Singapore. At the forefront is its chemical division, which yields more than that of refining. Target the promising scenarios of the East.

Diapers and bumpers, it's Exxon

Exxon Mobil takes a big hit in Asian markets, with products that extend its business range. The Texan fuel and energy giant, with a 2010 turnover of over 284 billion dollars (it is the third largest company in the world according to the "Fortune" ranking, after Wal-Mart and Royal Dutch Shell), is preparing to complete a mega- operation: will produce diapers and car bumpers. Sources inside Exxon speak of the "largest operation ever carried out in our history".

Exxon's chemical division is actually a battleship: it produces 1,5 billion in profits and if it were an independent company it would be the second largest in the sector, behind only the German BASF. The details of the operation have not yet been revealed, but the move is significant in terms of size and strategy: the company is betting on the lasting demand for those products in the endless eastern markets.
