The consortium in charge of expanding the Panama Canal has suspended work on the site. This was announced by the administrator of the infrastructure, Jorge Quijano, confirming in turn the breakdown of the negotiations on extra costs with the Gupc consortium, led by the Spanish Sacyr and also made up of the Italian Salini Impregilo. “At this moment the Gupc consortium (United Group for the Canal) has already suspended the works. They put the threat on the table and today they carried it out,” Quijano added.
