MARKET REPORT CARDS – Roma queen, Inter and Juve very well, Milan ok, Lazio and Napoli rejected

ROME 8

She is the queen of the 2015 summer market, both in terms of purchases and sales. After an initial phase of apparent calm, Sabatini went wild making reinforcements available to Garcia everywhere. The attack has been completely renewed: Salah, Dzeko and Iago Falque have already shown what they are capable of. Also interesting are the signings of Szczesny and Digne, who fill the obvious gaps in last season. A few more doubts about the central defenders and the midfielder: the conditions of Castan and, above all, Strootman don't leave you very calm. Romagnoli and Bertolacci could have lent a hand but saying no to Milan's indecent offers was practically impossible. Now they are "cabbage" from Garcia, forced to improve on last year's position. And therefore to win the Scudetto.

INTER 7,5

The temptation of the extra half point was strong, but then logic prevailed. It is true that, numerically speaking, Ausilio satisfied Mancini, as well as that the latter's requests were the most "capricious" in Serie A. However, the sensation of a market in spades remains, conducted more on nerves than on logic. Reducing to the last day to buy three players (!) Followed for some time is not the best of programming but Inter is like this, take it or leave it. In any case, the vote is more than positive: in two months an entire team has been redone, moreover without spending a fortune. In fact, the sales of Kovacic and Shaqiri made Thohir's outlay acceptable, who deserves applause after the criticisms of recent times. Jovetic, Perisic and Ljajic bring quality and enthusiasm, as well as tactical flexibility for Mancio. Who, after having complained "duly", also got Felipe Melo and Alex Telles, loyal to him since his days at Galatasaray. To top it all off the signings of Murillo (already taken in January), Miranda, Montoya (for now a mysterious object) and Kondogbia, for a sparkling and brand new Inter. Now the ball passes to Mancini, with his back to the wall like and more than Garcia. With all these players the podium is mandatory, without ifs and buts.

Juventus 7

From 8 until the sale of Vidal, just enough immediately afterwards. The average scores a good 7, therefore a company promoted without the glitter of the past. It is clear that the judgments are somewhat influenced by the latest results, the worst ever in the glittering black and white history, however the feeling remains of a market less planned than usual, the result more of events than of table planning. It wasn't like this at the beginning of summer, when Marotta won the enfant prodige Dybala, the ram Mandzukic, the expert Khedira and the blue promises Zaza and Rugani. It seemed like the continuation of the black and white dictatorship that not even the transfers of Tevez and Pirlo could scratch. But then came the transfer of Vidal to Bayern (impossible to refuse such an offer) and the consequent confusion, made even more evident by the results in the championship. Marotta, after buying Alex Sandro and Cuadrado, tried to make up for it in extremis with Lemina and Hernanes, the first to be evaluated and the second to be reviewed after a less than brilliant Inter parenthesis. In short, a competitive team, albeit less than in the past.

MILAN 6,5

Had Witsel arrived, the vote would have been decidedly higher, so instead a full sufficiency remains and nothing more. It's not a question of investments, there have been those. If anything, the problem lies in the project, just as unconvincing as the team's first seasonal performances. After Firenze Mihajlovic had been clear: Milan needed investments in midfield. "We know where to intervene but we certainly don't come to tell you" was the comment of the Serbian in the press room, suggesting that something big was boiling in the pot. Instead, the last few days of the transfer market only brought Kucka, a decent player but far from what was really needed. Milan 2015/16 will play without a director and, apart from Bertolacci (overpaid), with the same median as last year. Not the best for those aiming for a Champions League place and not even for those who, like Sinisa, have exposed themselves so much in front of the audience. And then there's the Ibrahimovic question, heralded around the corner for 3/4 of the summer and closed in the worst possible way with the purchase of Balotelli: from a certainty to a rather risky bet. However, the purchases of the first part remain, far from being thrown away despite a couple of glaring slips such as Jackson Martinez and Kondogbia. Bacca and Luiz Adriano have already shown that they can do great things, Romagnoli can be the defender on whom to build a rosy future. The problem is that the AC Milan people think about the present and that, to tell the truth, is rather nebulous.

LAZIO 5

Half a point more for the confirmation of the big names, from Candreva to Felipe Anderson passing through Biglia, loudly requested by Van Gaal's Manchester United. The rest, however, is a Greek cry, indeed a German one given the Leverkusen debacle which has already caused the first failure of the season to be scored. Evidently Lotito didn't take any cues from what happened in Naples 12 months ago: then De Laurentiis decided to face the preliminary without reinforcements, possibly postponing them until the qualification obtained, with the result of saying goodbye to the Champions League before even starting it in earnest. Lazio did the same and will now have to "console themselves" with the Europa League. What's the point of fighting all year for third place without honoring it properly? The answer to Lotito, in the meantime Pioli has to deal with a shock start, which after the German scoppola recorded the one in Veronese sauce. Difficult to blame Tare, who indeed brought to Rome the young Kishna, a promising striker from the Ajax school for only 3 million, and Alessandro Matri, a ready-to-use backup striker. Mind you, the vote refers to the market (non-existent), not to the squad: the current one, in fact, is in any case competitive and will allow Pioli to fight for the medium-high areas of the championship. Provided that the wind starts to turn in the right direction again, because otherwise this could be a very complicated season.

NAPOLI 4

Disastrous market, photographed perfectly by the Soriano case. He was supposed to be the last minute reinforcement for Sarri's midfield but at 23 o'clock the bitter surprise: the contract is not ready, the deal is off for bureaucratic reasons. Full insufficiency therefore for Aurelio De Laurentiis and the new director Giuntoli, even if the "faults" cannot be divided equally. In fact, it is difficult to market without resources and those, of presidential competence, have largely disappeared. Of course, Napoli have confirmed all the big names from the Benitez era and this cannot be forgotten. Higuain in the lead, but Callejon, Mertens and Gabbiadini also had offers, despite this they remained under the orders of Mr Sarri. He made choices that blocked the entry market and could perhaps be reviewed. What's the point of confirming three full-backs (to which Insigne should also be added) if you want to play with a 4-3-1-2? Someone could also leave so Giuntoli would have had the funds to strengthen the defense and midfield, real Achilles' heels already in the last season. The arrivals of Chiriches, Hysaj, Valdifiori and Allan do not allow the leap in quality and so the current Napoli has the defensive phase of Benitez (already 4 goals conceded in 2 games) without however having the offensive brilliance. Not the best for those who want to get back on the championship podium.
