Padoan challenges the EU: either us or Hungary

“Europe must choose which side to take: either on Italy's side, accepting that our deficit will go from 2 to 2,3% of GDP to deal with the migrant emergency, or with Hungary erecting anti-migrant walls ”: this is the challenge that Economy Minister Pier Carlo Padoan has launched to the European Commission in view of the examination of the Italian budget maneuver for 2017.

After having argued that for "the development and the fight against inequalities" it is necessary to overcome the austerity policy, wanted by the Germans, as the G20 also recently requested, Padoan said that "this is why we are a model for Europe ” and that if Brussels rejects our manoeuvre” it would be the end of Europe itself”.
