Padoan: Isis does not hold back the Italian GDP

Yesterday the minister had expressed some fears about the possible repercussions of the terrorism scare on the recovery, but today the number one of the Treasury confirms the growth forecast of 0,9% in 2015.

Padoan: Isis does not hold back the Italian GDP

The attacks in Paris will have no effect on the growth of Italian GDP in 2015. Economy Minister Pier Carlo Padoan assured this today, confirming the estimates already published by the government with the latest update note from the Def, which speak of a growth of 0,9% for this year.

Yesterday, in an interview with Corriere della Sera, the number one of the Treasury himself admitted that he feared that the terrorism scare could have negative repercussions on the recovery.

“Real growth is confirmed by our assessments, it is not denied,” Padoan said as he introduced the presentation of the first public debt report to the Treasury.

As for the factors affecting debt, Padoan said today that "it would be useful for inflation to be a little higher" but from this point of view "we are counting on the ECB".

The figure released today by Istat signals a slowdown in inflation for November to -0,4% on month and +0,1% on year.
