Padoan: "The balanced budget is postponed to 2017"

Italy postpones the deadline for homework imposed by Brussels by two years. Yesterday, after the Council of Ministers, Economy Minister Pier Carlo Padoan announced that "from 2016 the structural adjustment of 0,5% will resume, which will lead to a balanced budget in 2017". This year, on the other hand – the number one of the Treasury specified again – the structural adjustment today is less than 0,5% due to “exceptional circumstances”.

As for the debt/GDP ratio, Padoan announced that it will settle at 131,6% in 2014, but will rise to 133,4% in 2015. The increase is due to the "significantly worsened situation".
