Padoan: "Greece, the crux in Europe is the lack of trust"

During his speech at the ABI assembly, Economy Minister Pier Carlo Padoan said that Greece should not only be helped to stay in the euro but also to return to growth – Padoan needs not only a building site Greece but also another for Europe, a continent in which, according to the minister, an important resource is missing: trust

Padoan: "Greece, the crux in Europe is the lack of trust"

In the course of 'ABI assembly which is being held at the Palazzo dei Congressi of the Eur in Rome by the minister of the Economy Pier Carlo Padoan he focused his speech on the Greek question and on the repercussions that the chaos relating to the rescue of the Greek state will have on the future of Europe. The owner of via XX Settembre explained Greece “must be helped not only to stay in the euro but to return to growth“. For Padoan “next to the opening of a construction site for Greece we need a building site for Europe. We need an ambitious and long-term project”. The right recipe for Padoan is that of a program of national and European reforms to relaunch not only Greece but the whole of Europe.

For the minister, the dilemma is not in choosing "Austerity yes or no" but in "how to put the goal of growth into practice", underlining an essential character that Europe lacks: confidence. "In Europe, the missing resource is trust", the minister clearly stated, adding that the "Greek crisis is a signal to speed up European integration".

Turning to the internal situation, Padoan wanted to reiterate that "the recovery of the Italian economy continues" and that the Government is determined to "exploit the window of opportunity" offered. Padoan he recalled that the lines on which the executive is intervening relate to the consolidation of accounts and debt reduction, structural reforms and investment support. In the coming weeks and months with the stability law and other measures - he adds - the Government will intensify these lines of action”.
