Padoan: "A new investment package is coming"

With the new year, an investment package will arrive to support growth. This was assured by the Minister of Economy, Pier Carlo Padoan, in an interview published today on The Corriere della Sera. “We define it Investment compact - he said -. Tax measures in support of small and medium enterprises, in particular, innovative ones, also through a refinancing of the guarantee fund. Finance measures for growth, to also allow non-bank intermediaries, such as insurance companies, to increase the possibility of directly providing credit to businesses. Measures for attracting foreign investment, overcoming the so-called regulatory risk, i.e. preventing a company setting up in Italy from undergoing sudden changes in tax and administrative rules. Measures to support cultural activities to encourage private investment in the sector".

As for the form in which to propose the Investment compact, “we have not yet decided whether we will present one or more measures – added Padoan -. But the result will be a package that brings together the requests of businesses and financial operators. I hope it can be launched by January".

On the side of privatizations, the number one of the Treasury clarified that, “as President Renzi said, in 2015, that of the Post Office will take place and we are studying that of the Railways. I add Enav and that of a further share of Enel. On the real estate front, 5 public real estate funds were launched by Invit (a company of the Treasury for asset management). Finally, even efficient municipal companies can be put on the market".

The minister confirms "President Renzi's optimism" on the recovery of the economy, while on the situation in Greece he states that "the risk of contagion no longer exists".
