Pa, young-old people relay? Giannini against Madia

According to the Minister of Education, “a healthy system doesn't need to send the elderly home to let the young enter. A constant alternation is necessary” – Last week, however, the owner of the Public Administration had announced her intention to “create some exits with early retirement to introduce young energies into the PA”.

Pa, young-old people relay? Giannini against Madia

A rift is opening in the government on the front of state workers. “I don't like the connection between those who go home and those who enter: a healthy system does not need to send the elderly home to let the young enter. A constant alternation is necessary”. This was stated yesterday by the Minister of Education, Stefania Giannini, arriving at the biennial conference of the Confindustria study centre.

Giannini's reference is to the words of Marianna Madia, head of the Ministry of Public Administration, who last Tuesday announced her intention to "create early retirement to introduce young energies into the PA".

In turn, Madia's speech aimed to reassure those who feared massive layoffs linked to the spending review. Talking about 85 redundancies of state employees imposed by the spending review plan means quoting "an incorrect number and using wrong and distorted terminology, also with reference to the Cottarelli plan itself", said the minister.

To those who had pointed out that the plan speaks of compulsory mobility, Madia had replied that the Government is thinking "of a healthy compulsory mobility where respect is that of the worker's right, but where there are no bureaucratic obstacles".
