P4, ok from the Giunta on the arrest of the Pope

The council for the authorizations to proceed of the Chamber today gave the go-ahead for the arrest of PDL deputy Alfonso Papa, accused of having acquired confidential information on penal proceedings in progress, as part of the investigation into the so-called P4. The investigation, launched by the Naples prosecutor's office, aims to shed light on an alleged criminal association aimed at manipulating secret information or information covered by preliminary secrecy and capable of influencing the activity of constitutional bodies.

The proposal to accept the arrest request presented by the IDV parliamentarian Federico Palomba passed with the favorable votes of the oppositions (Pd, IDV and Third pole). The deputies of the Pdl, the leaders and the mixed group abandoned the proceedings in protest, led by the rapporteur Francesco Paolo Sisto (Pdl) who had asked for the resolution of the matter to be referred to the Chamber. The two Northern League deputies abstained, after this morning Bossi had instead invited people to vote yes on the arrest proposal. The decision now passes to the Chamber, which will express itself on the matter, with a possible secret ballot vote, on Wednesday 20.
