The Milanese San Donato Group of the Rotelli family, owner of the famous San Raffaele and one of the major Italian health centres, is negotiating the purchase of the Fatebenefratelli hospital in Rome. The price is around 200 million and, according to reports from Il Sole 24 Ore, the Milanese have already presented a binding offer to the Vatican, which controls the hospital on the Tiber Island, and paid a deposit. The goal is to close the entire operation by May.

The goal of the San Donato Group, of which the former minister Angelino Alfano is president and CEO the main shareholder Paolo Rotelli, who already boasts 19 structures in Italy. Rotelli aims to take root in the capital and to take over the Fatebenefratelli, a health center with various specialties of excellence including above all obstetrics and gynecology but which have been in financial difficulty for years, to restore it and relaunch it in a big way.

The relaunch, based on significant investments and the requalification of personnel, should start right from obstetrics to bring it back to its former glory and will move in parallel with the closure by October of the preventive agreement in which the Fatebenefratelli ended up to avoid bankruptcy. It is no coincidence that in the hospital on the Tiber Island the coveted seats of a couple of primary doctors have been vacant for months, who will be appointed by the new owners
