Orticola: Rome as a large garden of art, flowers, food and sustainability

The center of Rome as a large garden of wonders, not only architectural but also botanical and food and wine in the exaltation of biodiversity. For three days from Friday 6 to Sunday 8 May "Orticola" event dedicated to nursery gardening, nature, art and sustainable mobility will envelop the Eternal City with a series of cultural initiatives that will involve nurserymen, plant producers and companies attentive to sustainability alongside the museums of the Villa Borghese circuit, Fai and the Institutions. A unique three days, declined between beauty, harmony and nature. Via dei Condotti will dress up in spring thanks to the art of flower designers who will decorate one of the most beautiful streets in Rome, with the Trinità dei Monti in the background, with original and colorful planters. Two floral columns placed at the entrance to the street will build a natural continuation of the flowering that adorns the Spanish Steps with the traditional azalea plants. During the three days of the event, the luxury shopping of those who stay in the city for the weekend will breathe in the fragrant blossoming of spring.

Spring is also good and natural food: an area dedicated to food & beverage has been set up inside Orticola with 5 different stations. Natural, organic food and in line with the sustainability of Orticola di Roma and made by Anna & Beatrice lo Presti.

With Fai in the underground aqueduct of Villa Medici

Not only food, flowers and plants, but also cultural visits: FAI (Italian Environment Fund) will offer the extraordinary opportunity of a special visit to the subsoil of Rome: under Villa Medici, a few steps from the Orticola market exhibition, flows the Virgin Aqueduct which supplies water to the Barcaccia and the Trevi Fountain. On 7 and 8 May the FAI will be available to accompany the guests of Orticola in the descent on the aqueduct through the famous XNUMXth century spiral staircase. Do not miss the floral itineraries at the Borghese Gallery, at the National Gallery of Modern Art and at the Villa Medici Museum, where you can ideally admire the exhibited works with a "botanical eye", with special guided tours or simply by following the itinerary point from the magazine “Gardenia”.

But the heart of Orticola di Roma winds through one of the most loved and illustrious historical parks: Villa Borghese. Avenue of Magnolias will come alive with specialized quality exhibitors: from selected bulbs to extraordinary flowering tillandsias, from fascinating and succulent cacti to exotic carnivorous plants, from the Japanese art of Kokedama to elegant multicolored orchids. The flower designers will also be present with their fresh flowers and original compositions, perfect for any type of gift but also for decorating homes and gardens. Not to forget the artisans and hobbyists with their creations inspired by the world of flowers and plants, such as the fabrics decorated with the botanical contact printing technique or the bamboo fiber scarves, and then again the bijoux, the lamps and much more, all in the name of uniqueness and originality.

In the exhibition program, a space will be dedicated to botanical publishing with the presence of Nicoletta Campanella of Nicla Edizioni with special attention to the enhancement of the Italian botanical heritage with the presence of Giardino Segreto Garden Tour.
