The current RM 022 Tourbillon Aerodyne Dual Time with TPT quartz case is part of the Red-White-Blue Limited Edition watches launched in 2018 and only available at Richard Mille boutiques in the United States. Each model was limited to just 10 pieces, with each series made in red, white or blue that replicated the colors of the American flag. This example wears limited edition number 8. Equipped with Caliber RM022, has a hand-wound tourbillon movement with a power reserve indicator positioned at 11 o'clock and a torque indicator positioned at 2 o'clock. The latter indicates the tension in the mainspring and the optimum wind position. The second time display is positioned at 3 o'clock and read via a sapphire disc which is adjusted in one hour increments using a push button at 9 o'clock. Finally the crown functions are indicated via a hand at 4 o'clock. Pressing the crown , the watch can be set to charge, neutral or time setting mode.

The base plate of the watch, when looked closely, has a honeycomb pattern made from a special material called orthorhombic titanium aluminide. It is very strong and light, so Richard Mille decided to use it for the base plate to improve the strength and torsion resistance of the tourbillon. Additionally, the honeycomb pattern gives the dial a light and airy feel. The case of this incredible timepiece is made of ultra-strong and lightweight quartz TPT, while the central part is made of Carbon TPT. To create this bright red case, fine quartz fibers no more than 45 microns thick were first aligned and saturated in colored resins, then heated and subjected to a pressure of 6 bars before being machined.

The current RM22 “Red” is impressive on every level, from its “all or nothing” philosophy, to its highly complex movement and cutting-edge technology used for both the movement and case material. In excellent condition and fresh from the market, this watch is offered with box and papers.
