Order of doctors: national lockdown. Six regions in the balance

Appeal by doctors to the Government to decree the lockdown throughout Italy: hospitals are at the limit of endurance - Today the decision is made on whether or not to tighten the partial lockdown for six Regions

Order of doctors: national lockdown. Six regions in the balance

The government must enact a "total lockdown across the country”. The request - in the light of the latest data, especially those on hospitalizations and intensive care - comes from Filippo Anelli, president of the National Federation of Medical Associations, which raises the alarm via Facebook. “If we consider this week's data as a typical trend and project it without expecting further increases, the situation will be dramatic in a month and therefore we need to immediately resort to a total closure - Rings told Ansa - Either we block the virus or it will block us, because the signals tell us that the system does not hold and even the now yellow regions will soon find themselves in the same conditions as the most affected areas. With the current average, in a month we would reach a further 10 deaths".

Meanwhile, the technicians of the Ministry of Health and the Higher Institute of Health are grappling with the latest data arriving from the Regions. There are still anomalies: strange numbers, some perhaps unreliable, others certainly incomplete. The result is that the control room meeting, initially set for Saturday, has been postponed until Monday. The question is delicate because it depends on these assessments the fate of at least six regions: Veneto, Liguria, Emilia-Romagna, Tuscany, Umbria and Campania they risk moving from the yellow zone to the orange one, if not even to the red one, as established since the last Dpcm.

To arouse the greatest suspicions are the numbers of the Campania, too encouraging to sound realistic. After all, the governor Vincenzo De Luca was among the first to close everything and to invoke tougher measures at the national level. Yesterday the mayor of Naples, Luigi De Magistris, also spoke of the red zone.

It is almost certain that the Liguria will turn orange, mainly due to the worsening situation in hospitals. On Sunday, however, the governor Giovanni Toti said he was "sure" that the Region would remain in the yellow zone.

In Toscana by now they consider the transition to the orange zone to be certain, while the red is even at riskEmilia Romagna, where the Rt index remains above 1,5, triggering risk scenario number 4, the most serious. Negative numbers also fromUmbria, now almost sure of the change of area. Instead, she hopes to avoid it Veneto, where, however, the Rt index is from scenario 3.

Meanwhile, in South Tyrol, Governor Arno Kompatscher has decided to trigger the red zone immediately.
